After developing one of the state’s most consistently successful high school cross country programs, Dan Parker is moving on.
Parker, the longtime head cross country coach at Snohomish, has been hired to do the same job at Glacier Peak, the new Class 3A high school in Snohomish that opens this fall. Glacier Peak will be a member of the Western Conference South Division. Snohomish competes in the Wesco North.
Parker has coached the Snohomish boys and girls cross country teams since 1988. His girls teams won four state championships (1995, 1996, 2002 and 2003). The 2003 squad set a Class 4A state record for best team score when its five fastest runners all finished in the top 13.
Parker said Thursday he plans to coach the Snohomish girls track team this spring, but will eventually apply for the head track job at Glacier Peak.
