The NHL is coming to Everett

For those of you who haven’t heard the exciting news yet, Comcast Arena will be hosting an NHL preseason game this fall.
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, the Phoenix Coyotes and Tampa Bay Lightning will face off in Everett, giving the locals their first opportunity to see the highest level of hockey up close and personal. Phoenix will be bringing a pair of Everett alumni in center Peter Mueller and defenseman Shaun Heshka, not to mention The Great One in coach Wayne Gretzky. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay will feature two of the top scoring forwards in the world in Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis, as well as exciting young talents Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman.
Having talked to Tips general manger Doug Soetaert, this was something he’s been trying to put together for a number of years now. It worked out this time because Phoenix is no longer playing a preseason game in Winnipeg, but was still looking for an alternate venue. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay is apparently holding training camp in nearby Victoria, so Everett works well for both teams.
So yet another big piece of offseason news from the Tips, who have been working me overtime. Does anyone want to change their poll vote now?
