During September Gallery North in Edmonds celebrates the paintings of watercolor, oil, and acrylic artist Judy Odell. The colorful show will feature a variety of subjects including florals, landscapes, and seascapes as well as abstract works.

Born in the Pacific Northwest, Judy studied art at Olympic College in Bremerton. Her instructors include the Russian artist, Sergei Bongart and John Solminen, an internationally acclaimed watercolorist. In 1991 Judy was honored by the Frye Museum with a retrospective showing of her work. Many of those paintings will be available as museum quality giclee prints.

Currently Judy Odell is a member of Seattle Co-Arts, the International Society of Acrylic Painters, and a former member of the San Diego Watercolor Society. Asked about retirement, Judy insists that artists never retire. “The days aren’t long enough and there is so much out there to paint.”

The public is invited to meet the artist and view her paintings during a reception at Gallery North from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6. Light refreshments will be served. The artist will also be on hand during the Third Thursday Art Walk, from 5 to 8 p.m.Thursday, Sept. 18.
