AMHS collected food for needy in Nov.

In November, Archbishop Murphy High School took part in the Saint Vincent De Paul Thanksgiving food drive. Each home room class competed to bring in items like cereal, flour, canned foods, toothpaste, toilet paper and more.

Students brought in over 2,000 items and $2,500 which was used to purchase grocery shopping certificates. There was about 90 percent participation.

The drive was brought to a close with a Thanksgiving Prayer Service where students Collin Huggins and Bianca Campbell reflected on a Bible reading about the ten lepers.

AMHS music students chosen

Four Archbishop Murphy High School students have been chosen to participate in the 54th Annual Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) All-State Bands, Orchestras, Choirs and Jazz Groups.

Senior Bianca Campbell was chosen for the “symphonic choir” category, in the Alto 1 group. Senior Isaac Bond was chosen for the “symphonic choir” category, in the Tenor 2 group. Senior Sara Hogenson was chosen for the “symphonic choir” category in the Soprano 1 group. Kylie Rebich, a freshman, was chosen for the “concert band” category, in the B Flat Clarinet group.

The WMEA All-State bands, orchestras, choirs and jazz groups will convene in Yakima Feb. 13-18.

The finest high school musicians in each of these musical genres will rehearse together under the direction of world-renowned conductors and present their final concert in Yakima’s historic Capitol Theater and grand SunDome.

The musicians were selected through auditions to participate in the event.
