Summers on the way and Skagit Valley Casino Resort has been busy making plans. Whether you have a weeks vacation, a weekend or just a single evening, the resort is offering great entertainment and hotel packages for the coming months. Already a popular destination, Skagit Valley Casino Resort is the only casino resort with a hotel on the upper I-5 corridor. Don Guglielmino, general manager, is committed to keeping the Skagit at the cutting edge of entertainment and recreation.

Here at the Skagit we are getting ready to embark yet again on another exciting project that will continue to position us as the most desirable entertainment destination in the Northwest, Guglielmino said. Were encouraged by all the development we see with the neighboring competition. Rest assured the Skagit has its own sensational plans on the horizon that will completely redefine the property.

Currently, the resort includes a four story, 103-room hotel, a conference center, Las Vegas-style gaming and headline entertainment. Guests can relax with a swim in the indoor heated pool, visit the sauna or simply enjoy the privacy of an in-suite two person jetted tub. After a day of rest and relaxation, visitors can enjoy the 64,000 square-foot casinos gaming fun, or the entertainment in the Pacific Showroom.

Upcoming acts at the Skagit include legendary comedians The Smothers Brothers on Aug. 18. The folksinging comic duo is still playing-up the sibling rivalry that made the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour one of the most popular primetime TV shows of the late 1960s. Reserved seating tickets are available without service charge through the Skagit box office, or can be obtained through Ticketmaster. Hotel and show packages including deluxe accommodations for two, dinner for two at the Market Buffet, gaming fun packs and continental breakfast start at $235.

Award-winning country music star Tanya Tucker appears at the Skagits Pacific Showroom on Sept. 1. Tucker received her first Grammy nomination when she was just 13 years old for the song Delta Dawn.

Other entertainment at the Skagit includes gold album artist Joe Nichols performing country classics along with his own hit songs, at 4 and 7 p.m. May 22. Comedian Bill Engvall takes time out from the WBs sketch comedy show Blue Collar TV to appear at the Skagit on May 29. Popular country singer Collin Raye reprises his hits such as I Think About You and Love Me on July 17. Call the casino resorts information line for more details.

Skagit Valley Casino Resort also features fine dining. Moon Beach is an award-winning restaurant under the eye of executive chef Tom Hull. Menu choices include steak, seafood and Northwest specialties. Chef Hull also oversees the menus at the Skagits Market Buffet &Grille, the Northern Lights Deli and onsite banquets.

For a quieter break with lots of pampering, consider driving a little farther north to the Skagits sister facility, the Semiahmoo Resort Golf and Spa. Its a luxurious oceanfront getaway located just minutes from Bellingham. This AAA four diamond resort offers a European spa, three restaurants and two golf courses. The Arnold Palmer-designed Golf and Country Club and the Graham Cook-designed Loomis Trail Golf Club both were featured in Golf Digests Top 100 public courses.

Skagit Valley Casino Resort is located next to I-5 just a few minutes north of Mount Vernon. Take Exit 236 for Bow Hill Road. The resort is a 24-hour facility. The casino opens daily at 9 a.m. For more information on either the Skagit Valley Casino Resort or the Semiahmoo Resort Golf and Spa, call toll-free 877-2Skagit or see www.theskagit.com.
