Everett’s Samuel wins tennis title

MILL CREEK – Everett’s Sunny Samuel ran his record to 20-0 Friday and won the Western Conference 3A boys tennis singles championship by defeating Arlington’s Joe Osmundson 6-2, 6-4 in the final.

The Stanwood team of Bryan Bryant and Michael Carlson won the doubles championship, defeating Blake Twisselman and Chou Le of Everett 7-6 (7-3), 6-4.

In the singles competition, Nick Froman of Lake Stevens finished third and Aaron Koester of Monroe of Monroe was fourth. Bennett Johnson and Ryan Morrell of Everett were third in the doubles, while Jimmy Oung and David Chong of Jackson were fourth.

The top four singles players and doubles teams advance to the Northwest District meet, which is scheduled to begin Thursday at Stanwood.

  • Snohomish County Christian 8, Seattle Lutheran 3: John Korpi had two goals for Snohomish County Christian to lead them to the victory.

    Goals-SCS: Pederson, Korpi 2, Vorhees, Farrar, Dicecco, Gray, Zuspan. SL: Jergenson 3. Goalkeepers-SCS: Kehres, Rouse. SL: Stover, Cardiness. Records-Seattle Lutheran not reported. Snohomish County Christian 8-1, 12-1-2.

  • Mountlake Terrace 3, Oak Harbor 2: At Oak Harbor, Breanne Appleby’s 42 assists and Jen Mundt’s 19 kills led Mountlake Terrace (2-5 league, 5-6 overall) to the 13-15, 17-15, 15-11, 13-15, 15-10 Wesco 4A victory. Kelsey Voetmann added 18 kills for Mountlake Terrace, while Valerie Hartman had 55 assists and three aces and Constance Burnette 21 kills and five blocks for Oak Harbor (3-4, 4-8).

  • King’s West 3, Cedar Park Christian 0: At King’s West, Rachel Bricker, Emily Valerand and Courtney Richard combined for 10 kills for Cedar Park Christian in the 15-2, 15-12, 15-11 Sea-Tac B League match.
