Left-hand turn on one-way street is OK if no sign

Q: I remember my driver education teacher emphasizing that it is legal to make a left-hand turn onto a one-way street during a red light. Does this apply for two turning lanes?

I often turn left onto the Highway 526 onramp (eastbound) from the Evergreen Way (southbound) turning lanes after coming to a red light. My wife believes I will be ticketed some day. What is the correct call?

A: State Patrol Trooper Lance Ramsay said drivers can make that turn, if there are no signs that say turning is prohibited on a red light.
