MARYSVILLE – Stacey White had 22 assists and teammate Jeni Crocker added 11 kills to lead the Sehome volleyball team past Marysville-Pilchuck 3-1 Wednesday night in a non-conference match.

After losing the first set 25-11, the Tomahawks (0-2) bounced back to capture its first set of the season, winning the second set 25-21. Sehome regrouped and closed out the victory by winning the next two games 25-23 and 25-10.

“Tonight was just a slow start for us,” Marysville-Pilchuck first-year coach Nate McClellan said. “Our girls played really hard tonight and it showed when we won (the set).”

Carly Conway and Kaylee Thomas combined for 25 kills while teammate Melissa Thompson contributed 32 assists and Nancy Couls had 14 digs and two kills for the Tommies.

“We had some communication breakdowns out there but that’s to be expected this early in the season,” McClellan said. “Once we harness all our energy, we’ll be where we should be.”
