It’s scary to think of drinking drivers

Beware, those who drink or drug and drive. Officers will be out in force through Halloween.

Tracy McMillan, Snohomish County DUI Task Force coordinator, said officers will be on high alert for impaired drivers, aggressive drivers and speeders.

Officers also urge drivers to be particularly careful Monday evening, when small children will be out trick-or-treating.

Help The Herald do some barnstorming

Do you have a barn? If so, The Herald wants to hear about it. Is your barn used in the traditional sense — full of crops, tractors or cows? Or is it used for living or working space? Is it a vital part of your property or just storage for old car parts, spider webs and stray cats? Whether your barn is full of history, falling down or completely renovated, The Herald would like to know more. E-mail reporter Jennifer Warnick at jwarnick@ heraldnet.com or call 425-339-3429.

Charities can tell readers how to help

The Herald will run its annual Ways to Give list Nov. 20. Ways to Give lets readers see which charitable groups need help during the holiday season.

The Herald needs the following information from you to help compile the list: name of organization, what services you provide, hours, address, a phone number to be included in the listing, a phone number where a Herald reporter can reach your group, and which items or services are needed.

To get on the list, charitable groups should respond by Tuesday. Send responses to Herald Assistant City Editor Theresa Goffredo or e-mail her at tgoffredo@ heraldnet.com.

Correction

There will be 500 free Silvertips T-shirts given out at Sunday’s hockey game at the Everett Events Center. The shirts will be given to people who bring donations of nonperishable food for the Everett Food Bank. Additional shirts will be available for $5. No shirts will be given out at Saturday’s game. A story on the food drive that appeared on Page B1 Wednesday incorrectly said the shirts would be available both days.
