A wall: The 6-foot-4, 275-pound left guard for the Turks football team is formidable. “When you’re one of the better players, it sucks sometimes because they’re gunning for you.” Gets double-teamed now.
Loves the lights: Has played football for six years. “It’s great. It’s the best feeling ever. I love Friday nights. It’s the most intense thing ever.”
Plus: “I like to take my anger out on hitting people.”
Working hard: His coaches, principal and grandparents believe in him, so he tries to pay attention to his grades. “They really want to see me go on past high school.” Dreams of playing for the University of Washington. Is looking at his options.
Courses: American Sign Language, Integrated Math III, current world issues, English, weights and biology. Math is toughest.
Hobbies: “After school last year all I did was lift weights, go home and help my grandparents around the place, pick up the yard. Play my PlayStation, go to the movies on the weekends sometimes.”
Home life: Lives with his dad at his grandparents’ place. Mom and sister are nearby in Monroe.
Inspired by: His coaches, Seattle Seahawks defensive end Grant Wistrom, his grandparents and his dad.
Savoring senior year: Plans for finishing high school include “pass my classes, be a good leader and spend the rest of my time after school lifting weights.”
Goal: “I’d love to go on and play college football. I could be on a video game.” Just not on the cover. No “Madden” curse for him.
