PASCO – After eight innings and only two hits, the Everett Aquasox walked all over the Tri-City Dust Devils in the top of the ninth inning, beating the home team 5-3 at Dust Devil Stadium.
The Frogs drew two walks, had three hit batsmen and got a key hit by Gregory Halman to score four runs in the ninth for a come-from-behind victory in the Northwest League game.
Manelik Pimentel led the inning off with a walk, then Deybis Benitez and Jeffery Dunbar were hit by Tri-City’s Andrew Groves (0-2) to load the bases.
Later in the inning, Marquise Liverpool drew a walk and Edilio Colina was then hit by the first pitch thrown at him to tie the score.
Then Halman became the hero for the Aquasox, doubling down the left field line that scored two Frogs and put Everett up 5-3.
The ninth inning overshadowed a solid pitching performance by Tri-City’s Marco Duarte who pitched seven innings and allowed only one run and two hits.
Reliever Marquis Pettis (1-0) picked up the win for Everett and Ryan Moorer got his first save of the season pitching a perfect bottom of the ninth.
The Aquasox earned their fourth straight win.
