Everett: Energy fair planned downtown
An energy fair where people can learn about renewable and sustainable energy practices is being planned for early October in downtown Everett.
The Green Everett Sustainable Energy Fair is scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 6 at the Snohomish County PUD, 2320 California St.

Lake Stevens: Hiring initiative on agenda
The Lake Stevens City Council tonight is scheduled to discuss an initiative to encourage businesses to hire family members of people serving in the military.
The work session is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Lake Stevens School District Educational Services Center, 12309 22nd St. NE.

Employers often are reluctant to hire military spouses because they move to new deployments every few years.
Mukilteo: Budget topic of discussion
The preliminary 2008 budget is scheduled to be discussed at today’s Mukilteo City Council meeting.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at City Hall, 4480 Chennault Beach Road.
Topics expected to be discussed include how to spend money to replace technology and creating a fund to pay for expensive pieces of equipment.

Snohomish: Map shows developments
The city’s Web site features a construction and development activity map that shows what is being built in the city. The Web site address is www.ci.snohomish.wa.us.
The map features major commercial and housing projects, including Snohomish Station on Bickford Avenue, the city’s largest planned development. Home Depot and Fred Meyer are expected to be anchor tenants.
