MUKILTEO — Police on Monday were following up tips they received after a woman reported she was tricked into talking dirty by a man who claimed he’d kidnapped her daughter and threatened to molest the girl if the woman didn’t engage in phone sex.
“We’re getting some tips in, and it’s still under investigation,” Mukilteo police detective Lance Smith said.
The 13-year-old girl had been in school during the entire ordeal. She was never harmed.
A man called the girl’s mother at work Thursday. The woman told police the man said he had kidnapped her daughter and would molest her if the mother didn’t comply with his demands for phone sex.
The woman did as she was told and asked to speak with her daughter. The man refused and hung up. The woman called the girl’s school and learned she was in class.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies also checked on the girl. Her father took her home.
The call lasted about 15 minutes.
Investigators had not received any reports of similar calls. They believe the call was sexually motivated.
