Dodgeball and the Tips

Different type of practice today for the Tips. Instead of taking the ice, the team headed to the Everett Skate Deck for a change of pace. First, a few drills using balls instead of pucks. Then came the fun part: the dodgeball tournament.

It was fascinating watching the players take part in a completely different sport, seeing how their skills/personalities translated over. Some things didn’t exactly require Nostradamus to predict. For example, Kyle Beach was super aggressive, which led to his share of quick kills, but also got him eliminated early on (sent to the box!). Zack Dailey, being so small and quick, was virtually impossible to hit. The goalies seemed to be the most adept at the catch, while the Euros could use a little work on their throwing technique. But there were a few surprises, too. Unless you knew Matt Ius was a former baseball player, I don’t know if you would have expected him to be a holy terror out there.

In the end, Team Harty, consisting of Jonathan Harty, Leland Irving, Dailey, Jesse Burt and Eddie Friesen ended up the victors. And sorry Mr. Gendur, but joining in the victorious celebrations does not make you a member of the winning team.
