EVERETT — An apartment fire apparently sparked by a heater Sunday morning displaced a family and caused thousands of dollars in damage.

Everett Fire Department crews were dispatched to an apartment on the 3600 block of Broadway shortly after 10 a.m. for a report of smoke from a second-floor unit. Firefighters quickly attacked and extinguished the blaze in the bedroom. Investigators report that the fire appeared to be accidental, caused by a space heater.

There were no injuries reported, but the occupants will be temporarily displaced.

An initial estimate of the damages was placed at approximately $10,000, but the actual loss will not be known until all investigations are complete.
