50 years ago (1958)
By a unanimous vote, the Everett School Board appointed Ted Muncaster to succeed Charles McGlade as superintendent of schools effective July 1. Muncaster had worked for the Everett schools for the past 10 years.
An eviction notice written by the Board of Education was read to directors of Snohomish County Boys Club at a session called by Boys Club president Jack Fowlds. The group’s building abutted the new Everett Junior College gymnasium and a new swimming pool was planned for the site.
25 years ago (1983)
After 32 years, Donald Beaman, the last judge in the county who wasn’t a lawyer, hung up his robe and set aside his gavel. He had been Marysville Justice Court judge, Cascade Court commissioner and Marysville Police Court judge.
Jim Pierce of Lake Stevens, a member of the paramedic team at Evergreen General Hospital of Kirkland, earned the highest individual score on a paramedic recertification examination. The Evergreen paramedics achieved the highest group score on the exam. Also in the group were Les Putnam of Gold Bar and Dave Knight of Woodinville.
