Everett Community College women’s basketball player Kristina Schumacher has signed to play next season at Cascade College in Portland, Ore., Everett coach Chet Hovde announced Monday.
Schumacher, a 5-foot-5 guard from Lake Stevens, finished her two-year career at Everett as the Trojans’ all-time leader scorer with 1,142 points.
This past season, Schumacher led the Trojans to 23-9 record, the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges North Division title and an eighth-place finish in NWAACC tournament. She averaged 20.8 points per game and was named the North Division MVP.
At Sunday’s NWAACC sophomore all-star games, Schumacher scored 24 points to lead the North to an 88-86 victory over the East.
“I am thrilled to have ‘Shoe’ join us next fall,” Cascade coach Matt Murphy said on the school’s Web site. “Her speed and scoring ability will be the perfect fit for our style of play. She is also an individual of high character who knows the value of both academics and athletics.”
The Thunderbirds are coming off a 15-17 season.
