50 years ago (1958)

Featured during the program tonight of the annual Monroe School variety show were the Madrigal Singers of Everett Junior College. In the group were Paul Giroux, head of the EJC music department and director of the group, assistant director Robert Borden, Maurice Shelby, Lorenz Schmidt, Richard Jones, Sandra Person, Patsy Riddle, Judy Bethers and Helen Hurn.

The Darigold Dairy team of Everett would be the host team of the Washington State Women’s Basketball Tournament at the Everett High School gym and Boys Club floor. Team stars were B. Dinnett, Sal Denny, P.J. Larimer, Susie Weber, Thelma Taylor and Val Moore.

25 years ago (1983)

Herald employees Jim and Julie Muhlstein were celebrating the birth of their first child, Jane Katherine. Jim was so excited that he ran a red light on the way home from Stevens Hospital. Fortunately the officer who stopped him was sympathetic and let him go without a ticket.

Arlington High School was performing “The Wiz,” co-directed by Sue Weingarten and Lyle Forde, students involved included Julie Benson, Mary Lento, John McNett, Steve Anderson, Dave Bohannon, Paul Graves, Jenny Muniza, Jose Gonzales, Tim Dailey and Sandy McNett.
