Local Briefly: Neighbors’ fight over fence ends with a stabbing

GOLD BAR — Police are investigating a fight between neighbors in Gold Bar on Thursday morning that sent a man to the hospital with stab wounds.

Two neighbors were fighting about a fence line around 11 a.m. in the 17600 block of 442nd Drive SE, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

The men, 51 and 41, got into a fistfight, she said. The older man was hitting the younger man when the younger man allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the older man in the shoulder and back.

The man who was stabbed was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening, she said.

Deputies arrested the 41-year-old for investigation of second-degree assault, Hover said.

Lynnwood: Electrical trouble sparks apartment fire

An electrical problem apparently sparked a fire that caused about $100,000 damage to an apartment north of Lynnwood on Thursday morning, officials said.

Neighbors called 911 about 5:30 a.m. to report smoke in the 2700 block of Lincoln Way, Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.

A ground-floor apartment in a three-story building was full of smoke when firefighters arrived, she said.

Firefighters from Lynnwood and Edmonds fire districts 1 and 7 quickly brought the fire under control. There were no injuries.

The tenant was away at the time of the fire. His apartment was heavily damaged and is uninhabitable. Officials didn’t know if he has renter’s insurance.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated and determined an electrical problem started the blaze.
