50 years ago (1958)
Marguerite Healey, Healey’s Nursery, 5901 Highway Place, showed off one of the magnolia trees which she and her husband, Don, grew as a hobby. Their nursery had an extensive collection of magnolias.
Eugene Smith, D.A. Duryee and Co., was presented the Salesman of the Month award from Wilbur C. Meier, president of the Everett Board of Realtors for having top sales for the month of May. Smith’s honor was also to recognize his work as chairman of the housing committee, where he had done an outstanding job in arranging the banquet during Realtor Week.
25 years ago (1983)
Patrick Conroy of Everett was to be ordained a priest in the Roman Catholic Church tomorrow at St. Joseph Church in Seattle by Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen. He had attended Immaculate Conception School and was a 1968 graduate of Snohomish High School.
Fluke Automated Systems Inc. of San Jose, Calif,, which made automated test boards for testing electronic equipment, was moving to Everett, joining its parent company, John Fluke Mfg. Co. Inc. The move was scheduled to begin next month and be completed by October.
