Vandals cause $12,000 in damage at Evergreen Cemetery

EVERETT — Everett police are investigating $12,000 in damage discovered today at the Evergreen Cemetery.

Vandals hit the cemetery and mausoleum in the 4500 block of Broadway sometime overnight, Everett police said.

Detectives have no suspects. They are investigating the potential for a connection to similar vandalism at cemeteries in the north Seattle area in recent days.

Patrol officers plan to keep an extra watch on all area cemeteries, officials said.

Police also ask the public to report suspicious activity in and around cemeteries, including vehicles driving on the grounds at night or people who don’t appear to be paying respects.
