Imagine Children’s Museum in Everett was selected as the 2008 Parents’ Picks for Best Museum as part of Nickelodeon’s ParentsConnect’s inaugural Parents’ Picks Awards.
“Nominated among such Seattle hotspots as the Experience Music Project, the Museum of Flight and the Seattle Children’s Museum, it is a huge honor to be given this award,” said Imagine’s executive director Nancy Johnson. “This is the realization of many years of hard work from a large community of supporters.”
ParentsConnect published the Parents’ Picks winners on July 15.
After a successful campaign to raise money, the museum, which had humble roots in a strip mall in the 1990s, opened its doors in 2004 to a brand new, 40,000-square-foot building at 1502 Wall St. that included 20 hands-on, interactive exhibits, classrooms and meeting space. In 2007, the museum served more than 183,000 visitors.
This isn’t the first award for Imagine Children’s Museum, which was honored with the Richard Wendt Award for Excellence in the Cultural Arts from the City of Everett and Seattle Magazine’s “Best Museum for Kids” award.
The museum was also highlighted in Sunset Magazine as a “fantastic children’s museum.”
