SNOHOMISH — The Snohomish Panthers ended a two-game losing streak with their first Wesco North victory of the season as they defeated Monroe 35-28 on Friday at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Snohomish.
“It was great to get going again,” said Snohomish coach Mark Perry. “We played well at home and it was just a great high school football game. For us it was awesome to get that (winning) feeling again.”
Senior defensive back Cameron Woolsey had two interceptions, including one with just over a minute to play to seal the win for the Panthers.
Woolsey also added three rushing touchdownws and finished with 11 carries for 108 yards. Ray Purviance rushed 20 times for 176 yards, including a touchdown run of 92 yards for Snohomish, which also recorded three interceptions.
“That slowed things down for (Monroe),” Perry said of the interceptions. “Our kids controlled the clock and did some things fundamentally right to help us win.”
Spencer Caraballo added a 3-yard touchdown run for the Panthers.
Bryan Sonneveldt passed for three touchdowns to lead the Bearcats, who mounted were mounting a comeback before Woolsey’s final interception.
