Thanksgiving crafts for kids

Gobble gobble: Kids love to be involved in holiday preparations and they love crafts. Combine the two and you’ll be blessed with some colorful keepsakes with a turkey motif.

For inspiration, turn to one of the hundreds of Web sites dedicated to kid crafts.

One place to get started is Disney’s family fun site, familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts/season/specialfeature/thanksgiving_crafts_ms.

The site has lots of ideas for Thanksgiving projects suitable for children, including turkeys made from paper bags, pine cones, tissue paper and gourds. Kids can learn to make a turkey hat, table runner, chair cover, centerpiece, place card, napkin holder, pinata, and something called a glowbird, but we didn’t want to go there.

Instructions are included, as well as supply lists and photos.

When crafts cease to entertain the kids, send them outside to collect colorful leaves for the table.
