Prep boys swimming: Oak Harbor takes lead in Wesco North

OAK HARBOR — Unbeaten Oak Harbor unseated reigning 4A state champion Snohomish 101-81 Tuesday in a Wesco North boys swimming dual meet at Vanderzicht Pool.

The Wildcats achieved 1-2 finishes in the 100-meter butterfly, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay and countered Snohomish wins in the 100 breaststroke, 400 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay by taking second and third.

“This is my first year coaching here and I’ve been out of the area, but we look good,” Oak Harbor coach Amy Nurvic said. “Depth-wise we’re not too bad, either.”

John Hu won the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke for Oak Harbor.
