OLYMPIA — The national Tax Day Tea Party brought the largest rally of the year to the Washington Capitol.

The State Patrol estimated the noon crowd at more than 5,000.

The anti-tax protesters recalled the spirit of the 1773 Boston Tea Party to send lawmakers their message: Taxed Enough Already.

Victor Meyers of Kent dressed like a Revolutionary War soldier with a tri-corner hat. He says he’s sick of taxes and hopes the size of the crowd drives home that message to Gov. Chris Gregoire.

There were a number of signs in the crowd: “Socialism never succeeds,” “Nazis were socialists too,” and “I am not your ATM.”

Other demonstrations are being held in cities across Washington as part of the national Tax Day Tea Party.
