EDMONDS — Edmonds-Woodway defeated Shorewood 6-1 in a Wesco South girls tennis meet on Thursday to remain unbeaten this season.

E-W’s victory was capped off by the No. 1 singles match, which was won by Amanda Waldron 5-7, 7-6, 6-3.

“Number one singles was a great match. The first set was close and could have gone either way. The second set was close and went to a tiebreaker and we had a great tiebreaker. And we pulled away in the third,” Edmonds-Woodway coach Dan Christ said.

Christ also mentioned the No. 2 doubles match won by Annie Wilson and Jessica Steiner as a great match.

Christ said all the matches were good and credited Shorewood’s play.

“They are a good team. I don’t think 6-1 reflects the quality of play at all,” he said.
