OAK HARBOR — Defending state champion Kamiak captured the 4A District 1 boys golf team title Tuesday by six strokes over Snohomish.
Twenty players were within 10 shots of leader Max McKinley of Shorewood, who shot 1-under-par 71 over 18 holes at Gallery Golf Course, going into Thursday’s final round. The top 15 players after today’s second round qualify for the state meet.
Kamiak’s Reid Martin, last year’s individual state champion, was two shots back at 73.

3A District 1 Meet: At Everett, Jody Barhanovich shot a two-round total of 160 to secure the individual championship by four strokes and help lead Everett to its third straight district championship. Fellow Seagull Stefanie Soelling (164) and Sedro-Woolley’s Rindala McLennan (168) rounded out the top three. Karen Ramos (196) of Meadowdale earned the 11th and final state berth, winning the second hole of a sudden-death playoff.
