Artist Karan Bush brings her gardens and the animals that visit them to full bloom in her realistic watercolor paintings that won the hearts of the judges of the Stanwood Camano Arts Guild who voted Bush’s “Yellow Magnolias” the poster winner for this year’s seventh annual Spring Art Show.

Visitors to this year’s show can gaze at Bush’s paintings along with hundreds of the latest works by more than 50 of the area’s best artists. A judged show, it includes work in acrylic, glass, mixed media, oil, photography, pottery and watercolor.

The spring art show kicks off with the patrons party at 6 tonight at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center, 27130 102nd Ave. NW, Stanwood. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served and Paul Nyenhuis will perform on his hand-carved flutes. Advance tickets for the patrons party are $5 at the Snow Goose Book Store, 8616 271st St. NW, Stanwood. Tickets at the door are $6.

The free hours for the spring art show are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Celtic musician Larry LaVerne will perform from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Funny man: From the absurdly realistic to the raw primitiveness of a child, Everett artist Mike Capp has the versatility to produce striking nudes and whimsical paintings featuring bloodsuckers.

Capp’s sense of humor seems to come through his work and through his artist’s statement in which he describes himself as someone who “enjoys long walks on the beach, romantic comedies and T-shirts with KISS on them.”

Capp, whose background includes professional illustration and the vinyl toy industry and whose current studio is at Lowell Art Works, is the featured artist for June and July at Uncle Elizabeth’s on Capitol Hill, 1123 Pike St., Seattle.

“Mountains, Marshes and Shorelines” is the new exhibit of watercolors and egg tempera paintings by Mark Van Wickler at Rob Schouten Gallery.

The exhibit kicks off at 5 tonight at the gallery at Greenbank Farm, 765 Wonn Road, Whidbey Island. The exhibit is on view through July 1.

This is also First Friday at the Farm and all three of the galleries at Greenbank Farm will collaborate with the Greenbank Wine Shop for the Wine and Art Walk. The featured vintner is William Church Winery. Acoustic guitarist Quinn Fitzpatrick will provide the entertainment.
