PORTLAND, Ore. — Rumors of a surprise appearance by comedian Dave Chappelle turned out to be accurate.
Thousands of people filled Pioneer Courthouse Square late Tuesday and early today in hopes that what they learned via text, Twitter or Facebook was true.
Chappelle, whose popularity soared after a well received sketch-comedy show on Comedy Central, arrived at about 1 a.m. today.
The Oregonian reports that the free show never really got going because of technical problems, but the crowd still had fun.
