PREP ROUNDUP: Three-set doubles win boosts Marysville-Pilchuck

STANWOOD — Marysville-Pilchuck’s No. 3 doubles team of Sam Josephson and Jared Randall came back from a first-set defeat to win 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 and clinch M-P’s 4-3 Wesco North win over Stanwood Friday at Stanwood H.S.
Randall was playing in his first varsity match.
“We’re still juggling things around, trying to find the right fit,” M-P coach Robert Sherry said. “That one worked out good today.”

Volleyball
Grace Academy 3, Skykomish 2: At Skykomish, Grace Academy lost it’s first two games (18-25, 22-25) to Skykomish (0-2 conference, 0-2 overall), but stormed back to win it’s next three (25-16, 25-13, 15-13) and win the Northwest 1B contest. Loveleen Kaler served 10 points in a row, including four aces, to aid Grace Academy (1-1, 1-2). Setter Lauren Krumm had an all-around strong performance, according to coach Melisa Thompson.
North Sound Christian 3, Lummi 0: At Bellingham, North Sound Christian (2-0) swept the three sets 25-16, 25-8, 25-4 en route to Northwest 1B win against Lummi (0-1). North Sound Christian’s Tori Speck had 14 aces and Maylisa Chung added 17 assists.
