Warming trend prompts Cascades avalanche watch

Backcountry travelers today should keep away from the Cascade Range mountains north of Stevens Pass, forecasters warn.

The National Weather Service in Seattle on Saturday issued an avalanche watch for that area and for the Olympic Mountains.

Warming temperatures and rain expected today could lead to increased avalanche danger in the mountains, the weather service said.
