50 YEARS AGO (1960)

Dr. John Flynn, a member of the Everett medical fraternity, was to address the Everett Rotary Club at their meeting in the Elks Home. He would discuss the use of hypnosis in medicine. Stanley Hager would introduce the guest speaker, Loren Baker would present the News and Views of the day, and Harold Walsh would preside.

Both Twin City mayors were stepping down from their jobs. Albert Moe’s term in Stanwood had expired, as had John Hansen’s in East Stanwood. Also up were council terms for Francis Powell and Glenn Larson in Stanwood, and Axel Crogstad and Ivan Gilbertson in East Stanwood.

25 YEARS AGO (1985)

Kenneth Graska, general manager of the Metropolian Tulsa Tranist Authority in Oklahoma, was appointed manager of the Community Transit system here. Graska succeeded Vic Sood, who had guided the agency since its founding in 1976. Graska also had worked for transit systems in High Point, N.C., Worcester, Mass., and Northern Kentucky.

Christine Foster of Everett got straight-A grades and earned a rating on the fall quarter dean’s list at the University of Montana at Missoula, where she was a senior majoring in political science and history.
