EVERETT — Department of Ecology crews worked Wednesday to clean up an oil spill from a boat that caught fire and sank at the Everett Marina on Tuesday evening.
The fire was reported about 6:20 p.m. in the 1700 block of W. Marine View Drive. No injuries were reported.
The 30-plus-foot pleasure boat sank with about 100 gallons of fuel on board, said Larry Altose, a spokesman for the ecology department. About half the fuel was recovered by Wednesday afternoon.
Officials continued to investigate what caused the fire, Everett Fire Department Fire Marshal Glen Martinsen said.
Three firefighters ended up in the water because of limited visibility and lack of space, he said.
They were quickly pulled to safety.
