50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Employees of Associated Sand and Gravel Co. started on the hard-surfacing on Highway 1-A from Getchell Road to Arlington. This “East Pacific Highway” would connect Snohomish and Arlington and backers hoped for improvements north of Arlington and south of Snohomish.
New 1960 Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles were on display for the public. The wide-tracked Pontiacs could be seen at Simpson Pontiac Motor Co., 3002 Rucker Ave., while the Oldsmobiles were at Dolloff Motors at 2820 Oakes Ave. The two were toned down from the radical 1959 models.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
The Snohomish County-Camano Board of Realtors and The Herald were presenting the Brothers Four and Reilly &Maloney next month at Everett Civic Auditorium. Tickets were $4 with a coupon and available at Cascade Savings and Loan, Chicago Title, Citicorp, Frontier Bank and ICA Mortgage.
