MARYSVILLE — Monroe kept up its winning ways, staying undefeated with a 3-0 volleyball sweep of Marysville-Pilchuck on Tuesday night. The Bearcats won by scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-23.
Marysville-Pilchuck coach Shelly Johnson said it was Monroe’s defense that was the difference in the match.
“I think Monroe did a great job of playing defense,” Johnson said. “There were a lot of free balls that came across the net that we should have put away, but Monroe just kept the ball in play.”
The Bearcats (3-0 league, 7-0 overall) were led by Meagan McPhetridge, who had 16 kills and 10 digs, and Melina Seabrook, who had 11 kills and 13 digs. Kendal Munoz also added 25 assists.
Hannah Watson had 12 kills and Lexi Fitzmaurice had 23 assists for the Tomahawks (1-2, 4-3).
“The key to the match was that Monroe was very consistent,” Johnson said. “We had too many unforced errors.”
