LYNNWOOD — Meadowdale defeated Wesco 3A foe Oak Harbor in four games (25-23, 15-25, 25-15 and 25-21) Wednesday at Meadowdale H.S.

The two teams came into the match as part of a four-way tie for first place. Meadowdale came out in a two-way tie for first with Everett.

Three Mavericks front-court players had at least eight kills with Lindsey Milner leading the way with 15 while Emily Denham (10) and Hailey Hulin (eight) also chipped in. Additionally, five Meadowdale (3-1 league, 3-5 overall) defenders contributed double-digit digs.

“We definitely have more firepower and size than Oak Harbor does,” Meadowdale head coach Machen Shrum said. “We didn’t have one standout kid tonight who played their best game. We had a bunch of kids play solid. It was definitely a team win.”

Oak Harbor (2-2, 5-3) lost a close first set and then controlled the second but seemed to lose the ability to tip balls at the net to keep Meadowdale off balance, according to coach Shrum. The Wildcats were led by Kristine Bouchard, who had eight blocks, and Katelyn Bristow’s six kills. Jordan Faralan added 31 assists to go with six kills.
