Seahawks pick G John Moffitt in third round

The Seahawks made no secret of the fact that they wanted to upgrade their offensive line in this draft, and after two picks, they’ve added two linemen.
After trading down in the draft Friday, the Seahawks picked John Moffitt, a guard from Wisconsin, in the third round. Moffitt, a first-team All-American last season, started part of four seasons for the Badgers, mostly at guard but also at center.
Moffitt will almost certainly get a chance to compete for one of the starting guard spots, both of which are very much open.
The pick comes a day after the Seahawks picked tackle James Carpenter in the first round.
“This is a bit of a statement,” Carroll said Thursday of the Carpenter pick. “Russell was a bit of a statement in the beginning last year. To come right back and get it with a right tackle right now is just a continued commitment displayed. We’re a long ways away but we’re moving in the right direction, so that’s why we’re all fired up about it.”
And on Friday the Seahawks made another statement–that fixing the line is priority No. 1.
