Centennial Trail update

I grabbed my bike the other day and took off for one of my favorite rides: Centennial Trail. I like Centennial Trail because on a decent weather day it’s not overly crowded (obviously weekends and really nice days the opposite is true), it’s completely paved from Arlington to Snohomish and there are
n’t a ton of stops. Just straight up get on your bike and ride.
What I wanted to check out Wednesday was the progress on the expansion of Centennial Trail from the Armar Road Trailhead to 172nd. Now there’s a gap where cyclists have to dodge traffic on the busy Stillaguamish Hwy., but the county is currently putting in a paved trail that will connect the trail to 172nd and make riding all the way to Bryant that much easier.
What I saw (the picture above) was promising. Work seems to be progressing well and looks like they’ll be done later this year as is scheduled. According to a story The Herald ran on May 10, work is expected to finish this fall.
Another section between Bryant and the Skagit County line is under construction as well and is scheduled to finish up around the same time. When done, the Centennial Trail will stretch for 23 glorious miles.
