Midseason prospect update

Published 12:48 am Saturday, December 24, 2011

I interrupt this holiday season with a brief message …

Much like the WHL, all the junior A, junior B and midget leagues are also in the middle of their Christmas breaks, which makes this a good time for an update on Everett’s prospects.

First off, Everett has a handful of prospects playing in the prestigious Mac’s Midget Tournament. That begins Monday and can be followed on the tournament’s website.

Now onto player statistics. I’m having a little harder time tracking down the stats on some of Everett’s prospects than I have in past seasons, in large part because the Tips have several defensemen playing in the Alberta Midget Hockey League, and for some reason the AMHL only lists the league’s scoring leaders rather than the stats for every team. So some stats are unavailable.

Because teams’ protected lists are constantly in flux and not avaiable to the public, there’s always some turnover that takes place without my knowing. Therefore, I’m going to list the 16- and 15-year-olds who were on Everett’s list at training camp, prospects acquired via trade after the season began, and a sprinkling of older players who I know are still around.

So, without further ado (players grouped by birth year, stats include games played, goals-assists-points, penalty minutes):

Seth Jones, D, U.S. NTDP U-18s – 26, 2-10-12, 14 (Jones was set to play for the U.S. at World Juniors, but suffered an injury in one of the warm-up games)
