OAK HARBOR — Dejon Devroe carried the ball 13 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns to lead Oak Harbor to a win over Arlington in a matchup between two of the top teams in the Wesco 3A North.

“He played really hard, he played smart, he is a pretty fast guy so he tries to get to the outside,” Oak Harbor head coach Jay Turner said. “He got a couple opportunities to do so and did a nice job stretching the field.”

After the Wildcats stopped the Eagles to open the second half, Devroe took advantage, scampering 77 yards to score and extend the Oak Harbor lead to 20 points. Arlington fought back, scoring two touchdowns in the final quarter, but didn’t have enough left in the tank to complete the comeback.

“For this early in the season, it’s a big (win),” Turner said. “Arlington is a good team, they are well-coached. Coming in there were three teams in the Wesco North with undefeated records so we knew we had to have this one.”
