Prep boys tennis: Wesco 3A District Tournament

MOUNT VERNON — The Glacier Peak boys tennis team finished in first place at the Wesco 3A District Tennis Tournament Monday at Skagit Valley College with a strong showing in both singles and doubles play.
Patrick Luangrath took home the singles title for the Grizzlies, defeating Everett’s Ulises Aceves 6-2, 6-3 in the championship match.
In doubles, Shorewood’s Cameron McDowell and Jack Bong defeated Glacier Peak’s Tucker Davis and Ethan Jones 6-1, 7-6 (6).
All first- and second-place finishers qualified for the state tournament, which will be played in May.
In the third-place matches, Meadowdale’s Bret Matysik defeated Edmonds-Woodway’s Grayson Turley 6-2, 6-1 in singles play. Mountlake Terrace’s Jeremy Ansdell and Henri Breuer defeated Shorewood’s Scott Park and Kyle Berquist 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-4 in doubles.
