Boys lacrosse: Stanwood 23, Shorecrest 8

STANWOOD — Kane Ayling and Glen Bennett scored a season-high six goals apiece as Stanwood preserved its undefeated record with a 23–8 boys high school lacrosse win over Shorecrest on Thursday at Stanwood Middle School.
Ayling, a senior midfielder, finished the night with seven points including an assist while leading the Spartans defensive effort with 10 ground balls. He now has 13 goals on the season. While Bennett finished the night with six points, all on goals. He has nine on the season.
Stanwood came out swinging, scoring eight goals in each of the first and second quarters for a commanding 16–5 lead at the half. In the third, Stanwood settled in for three goals while giving up just a pair then added four in the final set.
Junior midfielder Ian Prieve led Shorecrest with four goals.
