Prep softball: Sultan 3, Lakewood 2

SULTAN — Sultan starter Shelby Jeffries pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts to lead the Turks to a Cascade Conference win over Lakewood. Kayla Downs and AJ Fulcher hit RBI singles in the bottom of the fifth inning to put Sultan up for good.

Lakewood threatened in the top of the seventh but two deep fly balls by the Cougars’ three and four-hole hitters were caught by Sultan outfielders to seal the victory.
