Members of an Edmonds service club found less trash along the side of Highway 104 during an early August cleanup event than they have in recent quarterly events.

Twelve members of the Edmonds Daybreaker Rotary Club and two youth volunteers picked up broken CDs, plastic bags, empty beer and cigarette boxes and other items along the highway Aug. 8.

“Pickings were slim this year,” said Bill Bengston, who organizes the trash pickups for the Rotary Club. “That means people are not leaving us as much to pick up. That’s a good thing.”

Four times a year, the Daybreakers’ Rotarians collect the trash as a community service project.
