PORTLAND, Ore. — Skeletal remains found by hunters last year have been identified as those of a kidnapping suspect.
Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson said Thursday the Oregon State Police crime lab received confirmation that the remains found near Turner, Oregon, were those of 43-year-old Paul Winklebleck.
Police sought Winklebleck in connection with the 2010 kidnapping of two women in Portland. Police said they broke free after Winklebleck drove them to Marion County and tried to assault them.
Winklebleck was a registered sex offender at the time.
