Statement on streets and sidewalks from Frizzell, Lynnwood candidate

Lynnwood City Council candidate Chris Frizzell recently sent a statement about what the city should do about its streets and sidewalks.
Frizzell will challenge incumbent Benjamin Goodwin on the Nov. 3 general-election ballot. The two are running for one of four Lynnwood Council positions on the ballot.
Goodwin did not respond.
Here is Frizzell’s statement on city infrastructure:
Lynnwood City Council Position 5:
Chris Frizzell: Roads are one of the first impressions of a visitor to our city. Citizens, school children and business employees deserve safe roads to travel around the city. It goes without saying that roads in our city need to be better maintained. There needs to be a comprehensive plan for road maintenance and repair. I am eager to look at the budget numbers as well as the historical numbers of the roads department and find ways we can make our roads more of a priority.
Sidewalks are great for safe passage on arterials but I’m not sure they warrant the added expense in less heavily traveled neighborhoods. I have walked many miles within the city in the last few months as I have knocked on the doors of thousands of houses of active voters. I felt it was safe to walk without sidewalks in all but a few areas. I can see a priority for sidewalks around schools as we strive to protect our children.
Our infrastructure is aging, as we all are, and taking care of what we have is important as we work together to make Lynnwood “a great deal more.”
Benjamin Goodwin: No response
