Brier City Council incumbent Dale Kaemingk recently sent a statement about what he thinks are the most important issues in this year’s election.

Kaemingk will meet challenger David Wines on the Nov. 3 ballot. The position is one of four Brier Council positions on the general-election ballot.

Wines has not sent a statement.

Here is Kaemingk’s statement:

Brier City Council Position #5 (four-year term)

David R. Wines: No response

Dale Kaemingk: In light of the current funding challenges for cities in the state of Washington, it is important that Brier City Council members have experience working on challenging budgets, understand the needs of the city, and exposure to addition funding resources.

I have served for the past twelve years on the City Council and helped develop and approve budgets for each of those years. In addition, as a managing partner of a structural engineering firm, I have over twenty years of experience helping direct a growing company, which operates in 45 states and six countries.

I have been to Olympia to meet with our local Representatives at the State level on several occasions. I have also had the opportunity to meet with officials at the county level and discuss issues of concern for Brier residents with them.

I have been to many Snohomish County Cities’ meetings with other elected officials where we have discussed: infrastructure, local policing, lot sizes, revenues, land use, safety, criminal justice, and economic development. I have also participated in the successful acquisition of grants and funds from federal sources.

I also worked with a commission to regionalize fire services in south Snohomish County.

I have the experience, knowledge and access to insure that the City of Brier continues to be the best city to live in Washington State.
