Events

Steven Markussen: The Snohomish County Music Project will host the visual artist Steven Markussen at a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Northwest Music Hall, located inside the Everett Mall. The event also includes a performance by a jam band of veterans led by the Music Project’s music therapy director Karla Hawley. Donations are welcome, but the event is free. Through Nov. 30, the hall is hosting an exhibition of works by Markussen about the experience returning home from war. A veteran himself, Markussen brings his insight into conflict, trauma and recovery.

Sculptors Workshop Pottery Show: The show and sale is 1 to 8 p.m. Nov. 20 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Dayton St., Edmonds. Meet the cooperative’s 20 artists.

Schack Art Center: 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett; 425-259-5050; www.schack.org. The Schack is featuring two-dimensional works by the guild Seattle Co-Arts during the annual Holiday Exhibit, opening 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 19 at the art center. Seattle Co-Arts was founded in 1949 as a small group of artists who wanted to get together to paint. Today, they have grown to more than 150 members. In addition to these paintings, the Schack will be exhibiting a diverse selection of ceramic and glass by regional artists including Dan and Joi LaChaussee, Barry McAlister and Julia Wolf-Miller. The exhibit runs through 2 p.m. December 24.

Cascadia Art Museum: The new museum, located at 190 Sunset Ave., Edmonds, currently shows works featured in the Northwest Watercolor Society’s new book celebrating its 75th anniversary. The show runs through Jan. 3. Admission is $10. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, until 8 p.m. on Thursday and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Through Jan. 10, also see more than 100 rare and original vintage Christmas cards made in block print, silkscreen, watercolor and oil by famous Northwest artists including Paul Horiuchi, Yvonne Twining Humber, Danny Pierce and many others.

Stocke is an award-winning artist who finds inspiration for his work in the Pacific Northwest and abroad. His paintings have been featured in Watercolor Artist Magazine. He is member of the local and national watercolor societies.

Janet Myer, local painter of American Indian heritage, shares the current exhibit with Eusha, a Russian-born artist who moved to Everett 20 years ago.
