EVERETT — Rain and wind will continue to thump Snohomish County over the next few days, according to the National Weather Service in Seattle.

Heavy rainfall in the mountains is expected to bring minor flooding to most area rivers between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Over the weekend, about 1.25 inches of rain fell at Paine Field, meteorologist Kirby Cook said. Another two inches or so could fall by Wednesday morning. The northern reaches of the Cascade range could see up to 7.5 inches in that same time, he said. People living around Puget Sound are likely to see three or four weather systems of warm rain spread over several days.

“We just haven’t had much of a break,” he said.

Minor flooding is expected late Tuesday on the North Fork Stillaguamish River, the main stem Stilly, the Skykomish River near Gold Bar and the Snohomish River near Snohomish. Most rivers should crest by late Wednesday, according to a Weather Service flood watch notice.

The winds were easing Monday but another round of wind is expected mid-day Tuesday, with gusts up to 40 mph, Cook said. Downed trees and branches on Sunday caused power outages in the Tulalip, Edmonds and Arlington areas, according to the Snohomish County Public Utility District.

“They were all fairly quick fixes,” spokesman Neil Neroutsos said.
